Tutoring #8-9.5 - Dojun Kim (1.5 hour/90 mintes)
On June 20th, Dojun Kim told me about what he had done the past weekend. He had socialized with his friends and found out that they would need to wait until the end of the year to extend their housing contract. He also told me that now there is Costco in South Korea and he described how it is similar and different to the one he went to in the United States years before. We had a discussion about how American businesses in foreign countries compare to those in the United States. He was surprised to learn that most of the menu items and ingredients for the Burger King and Mcdonald's in South Korea are different from those in the United States. At the end of the session, I taught him common American hand expressions. He was already familiar with most such as the thumbs up but laughed when I taught him about the Star Trek hand gesture that is commonly referenced in American films and TV shows.
