Turoring #7 - Anh Tuan Le (1 Hour)

On June 14th, I met with Anh Tuan Le. I began the session by asking him about what he had done that past weekend and how he enjoyed his new class. He did not have anything specific that he wanted to work on or that he had been struggling with in his classes so I tested him on his listening comprehension skills. Without giving him the reading material, I myself read the first chapter of the novel The Little Prince. Every paragraph I stopped and would ask him for the definition of the keywords I had read. If he did not understand some of the words I would explain their textbook definition and how they were used in the context of the sentence. I would then read the paragraph again and then ask him some reading comprehension questions. I had begun by speaking at a slower-than-normal pace, but because he was able to understand most of the vocabulary and correctly answer most of the comprehension questions I gradually began to speak at a normal and slightly above-normal pace. He was still able to answer most of the questions correctly.
