Today we talked about the LGBT community here in the United States versus in Korea. She explained that Koreans are very conservative and not a lot of people are openly gay/queer because they are ostracized and outcasted in society. She told me of a friend from high school who was part of a very small LGBT club at Seoul National University. It was interesting to me that the students of what is considered "the Harvard of Korea" would be so conservative, as a lot of college students at prestigious universities here tend to be more liberal and accepting.
