TS #6 - Abraheem

During last week's session with Abraheem, we spent an hour practicing for a presentation in his speaking class. We began with him practicing giving his presentation to me and then again with me timing him. The first time I timed his speech, he focused too much on the timer and let that interfere with his presentation. After practicing a few times, we broke down his speech and focused on using transitional phrases to indicate when he was moving on from one point to the next. I explained that, as an audience member, I struggled to understand when he was transitioning between ideas. We went through each slide together and talked about different ways to transition between topics and phrases he could use to make his speech more clear to his audience. I also emphasized that there were certain phrases in his speech that were a bit redundant or repetitive. For example, he did not have to repeat that they gave their survey to 9 people every time he introduce a new question on the survey. I have noticed this in his writing as well. After he rehearsed each slide or subtopic, he would take notes to help him practice when I was not there to provide feedback.
