CO #4 Speaking

During this session I shadowed Dr. Fleming's group 3 speaking session. To start the session off, Dr. Fleming had the class participate in a group discussion lead by one of the students. Apparently the role of who leads the discussion and what the discussion is about rotates between the students in the class. The class discussion I observed was lead by a very nice student (I forget her name but she was very cool), and it was about the ethics of capital punishment in schools. the discussion leader introduced the subject to the class and explained that it is common in her country. She then opened up the discussion for others to share their opinions, which they did for about 20 minutes in total. After the discussion was over, Dr. Fleming opened the class up to a more broad discussion of cultural differences in schooling and students gave their opinions. After this, the students were given time to work on a project they were doing. The project was to make a survey for a native english speaker with 8 questions on it. At the end of class the students presented their surveys and Dr. Fleming and I took the surveys and made corrections if necessary. This was a very fun and interactive class to shadow! I'm looking forward to teaching Dr. Flemings speaking class on Wednesday.
