Siena Failla TS #1 (May 3)

Yesterday, I met with Abraheem for the first time. Since it was our first time meeting each other, I wanted to use yesterday's session to get to know him. I learned that he is hoping to go to TCC to study business in the Fall. Once he learned I was from Melbourne he told me that he is interested in possibly going to transfer to FIT, which is located in Melbourne! He told me that once he finishes school, he might stay in the US to work for a year or two, but wants to go home to Libya. I learned that he studied English in England a few years ago, but since he has not been exposed to English much since then, he has forgotten a lot of what he learned. As someone who has lost a lot of my Italian since coming home, I can relate to his situation and understand how quickly language can be lost very quickly if you do not use it often. He said that he has the most difficulty with writing and grammar, so I will make sure to dedicate time to composition during our meetings. I was very transparent with Abraheem and told him that this was the first time I was tutoring someone. We learned that this was the first time doing language tutoring for both of us and I think that made both of us feel more comfortable with each other. Overall, I am really looking forward to working with him!
