Session 1 with Sujin Yang

I met with Sujin Yang at the Student Union on Thursday. It was an introductory meeting to get to know each other and assess her English needs. Sujin Yang already has a very advanced grasp of English, and is a visiting scholar here at Florida State University. She holds a PhD from Seoul University, one of Korea's top universities, in Consumer Science and Retailing and used to work for Samsung, Korea's top company, as well as working as a professor. She is forty-three years old and moved here four months ago with her husband and 12-year-old son. Sujin Yang has an impressive fluency of English already and wants to work on her enunciation and pronunciation and sharpen her speaking skills. She says she has trouble holding long conversations, especially casual, in English even though she is able to write full speeches and lectures in English, so most of our tutoring sessions will be focused on conversational and speaking skills. I am looking forward to my meetings with Sujin as I have a lot to learn from her, she is a very successful woman and I'm looking forward to hearing more about Korean culture.
