This past Tuesday I observed one of Dr. Kim's listening classes. This was the largest class which I have observed so far, which changed the dynamic a little. This meant that some students got off topic and could not follow along, and so Dr. Kim had to reign in the class and bring everyone back on-track a few times. She began the class with a lecture about neuro-marketing. She would pause the video at points to ask comprehension questions. She also had to remind the students to take notes, since some students weren't able to answer the questions from memory. She also asked for students' opinions to keep their interest in the material. The second half of the class focused on some short clips from the film "Father of the Bride". The clips were about hiring a wedding coördinator for their daughter's upcoming wedding. In order to provide schema-building, Dr. Kim asked the class if the students had wedding coördinators in their home countries. Students completed a fill-in-the-blank dictation activity based on the clip.
